Congratulations to DMCI (Main Office) for being one of the Regional Winners of the 13th Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) Award!

The GKK Award is given by the Department of Labor of Employment (DOLE) in recognition of outstanding achievements of establishments and individuals in implementing successful occupational safety and health programs that respond to the needs of workers, workplaces, and their communities. The awarding ceremony happens biannually and is spearheaded by the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC).

The GKK employs a two-tiered scheme at its regional and national levels. Nominees were subjected to a rigorous screening and validation process. Chaired by the DOLE Regional Director, the validation team is composed of OSHC technical experts, DOLE Regional Labor Inspectors, and representatives from the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, Social Security System (SSS) and OSH Network or Organizations.

The Awarding Ceremony for the Regional Winners of NCR and Region 4B was held last October 8, 2024.

During the Opening Remarks, OSHC Exec. Dir. Jose Maria Batino said that merely joining the search is a testament to the companies’ commitment in valuing the well-being of their employees. He added that the level of OSH implementation seen during the validation process definitely raises the bar higher for succeeding runs of the GKK Award.

Ms. Rebecca E. Civil, DMCI’s Partnerships and Business Strategy & Development Director, expressed DMCI’s gratitude to DOLE / OSH and the validators for the award during her acceptance speech. She mentioned that while the Main Office is DMCI’s entry, it reflects OSH implementation across DMCI’s projects and support groups since the corporate level oversees OSH policies and compliances. She concluded by reaffirming DMCI’s commitment to help and collaborate with DOLE and OSHC in enhancing OSH standards for the construction industry.

A Special Award for Individual Category was also given to Mr. Arnold E. Zoleta, (Sr. Manager - OHS), in appreciation of his valuable efforts to promote a culture of occupational safety and health.

As a Regional Awardee in the Industry Sector, DMCI automatically qualifies for the National Level Awards. Winners will be named in November 2024.
